Ria Bhatt (Secretary)
Ria Sengupta Bhatt brings more than a decade of experience in education—conducting policy research, providing strategic consulting, and evaluating programs. She currently serves as Deputy Director of California Competes, an Oakland-based higher education policy research and advocacy organization. Ria strongly believes that education opportunity is key to eliminating inequity and feels lucky to be able to focus her career on such a critical issue. She holds a BA in Economics from UCLA and a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University. Ria is honored to continue her dear friend Jane’s legacy by serving on the board of JSY Giving and helping local nonprofits share their stories and increase their impact.
Jarie Bolander (President)
Jarie loves nothing more than a good story. His passion to help nonprofits was ignited when he met Jane. He has helped several nonprofits tell better stories through his work at JSY PR & Marketing. He is a serial entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience and 6 startups under his belt, which gives him a unique perspective on storytelling for maximum impact. He is thankful that JSY Giving will continue Jane’s legacy of giving back. A California native, he attended San Jose State and received a BS in Electrical Engineering and later an MBA in Technology Management from UOP.
Sarah Prejean
Sarah Fahey brings 10+ years experience in developing and implementing marketing strategies across consumer products, global philanthropy and technology. With a passion for youth advocacy, clear communications and telling great stories, Sarah currently serves as the Director of Marketing and Communications for Students Rising Above, Bay Area-based non-profit, which has supported 800+ first-generation college students on their college-to-career journey.
Prior to Students Rising Above, she supported a sales team of 200+ globally for an Oracle systems integrator and previously activated consumer marketing campaigns with Current. Originally from Dallas, Sarah made her way out to the West Coast to attend University of San Francisco, where she holds a B.A. with an emphasis in Marketing.
